Breath of Peace
Aotearoa – New Zealand 2006 • 72 mins • Director: Kathleen Gallagher
This is a fascinating story of eight people fighting for global peace from the shores
of Aotearoa – New Zealand. Spanning seven decades, and featuring different types of
peace activists – from peace-walkers and petitioners to protestors on small boats and
surfboards putting themselves in the way of huge warships entering our waters, this
film is an important record of a longstanding peace movement.
Breath of Peace tells the rousing story of how Aotearoa – New Zealand became
nuclear free and came to accept an anti-war ideology as the status quo. It is an
inspiration for all people, young and old, and for peace-makers everywhere.
